George Petropoulos

George Petropoulos is a specialist in the commercial and residential construction sector, with risk management experience spanning 35 years. He advises clients on profit improvement, cost control and risk management.

After starting his career in commercial lending in 1980, he moved to surety underwriting in 1984. In 1989 he was a founding partner of London Guarantee, which was known for its expertise in commercial construction surety bonding. St. Paul Fire & Marine purchased London Guarantee for 2X book value in 2002, which subsequently merged with Travelers Canada. George led Travelers Canada through a series of growth initiatives from 2002 to 2019, rising to the position of President & CEO. Most recently, he oversaw the construction bonding business in addition to other business units. He is currently Vice Chairman of Travelers Canada and sits on its Board of Directors. He was a former Board Member of The Canadian Construction Association.

George earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from The University of Toronto in 1980.
